BEIJING, June 15 (ChinaMil) – “The Tokara Strait is a territorial strait used for international navigation. It is in accordance with the freedom of navigation principle of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea for Chinese warships to sail through the strait,” China’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) said on June 15, 2016.
The Information Bureau of the Chinese Defense Ministry made the above remarks when responding to the news from Japan’s Defense Ministry that “a Chinese warship has entered the territorial waters around Japan’s kagoshima on the early morning of June 15.”
