VIENNA, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) — Iran shipped out 20 metric tons of heavy water as mandated by the international nuclear deal agreed in July 2015, according to a report Friday by the UN nuclear agency, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It is the first time a report has been issued over Tehran’s nuclear plans since the deal was agreed, which shows Iran is complying with the accord.
On Feb. 17, IAEA had noted the stock of heavy water in Iran reached 130.9 metric tons, 0.9 tons higher than the limit.
In its latest report, the agency confirmed that “20 metric tons of heavy water had been shipped out of Iran, bringing the stock of heavy water in Iran to below 130 metric tons.”
