On Feb. 1, 2016, a new type 071 dock landing ship 988 (Yimengshan) built by Shanghai’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding entered the PLA navy. The 689-foot-long warship can carry 1,000 soldiers, helicopters, armored fighting vehicles, boats and landing craft.
