China, Kyrgyzstan intend to upgrade bilateral military ties

BEIJING, March 20 (ChinaMil) — General Fang Fenghui, member of China’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department under the CMC, met with Chief of General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces Major General Rayimberdi Duishenbiev, in Beijing on March 17.

The two sides carried out in-depth exchange of views on topics including international and regional security situations and military-to-military exchanges and cooperation.

Fang said that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan 25 years ago, especially under the joint promotion by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev, the bilateral relations between China and Kyrgyzstan have reached an unprecedentedly high level, as evidenced by firm mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns and close communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs.

China’s armed forces is willing to work with their Kyrgyz counterparts to implement the important consensuses reached by the heads of state of the two countries, maintain close high-level contact and deepen cooperation in fields of defense and security, anti-terrorism, joint drills and personnel training, so as to upgrade the relations between the two militaries to higher level and make more contributions to the constant development of the China-Kyrgyzstan strategic partnership, Fang added.

Duishenbiev expressed that Kyrgyzstan firmly supports and always pursues the One China policy.

The Kyrgyz side is willing to deepen exchange and cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side, jointly crack down the “three evil forces” of separatism, extremism and terrorism to maintain regional peace and stability, and make unremitted efforts to upgrade the bilateral relations to a new high, Duishenbiev said.
