On Jan. 9, Japan’s official said: this afternoon, a Chinese Y-8 AWACS, a Y-9 electronic warfare aircraft, and six H-6 bombers, flying over the Sea of Japan to meet the returning fleet of two 054A Frigates through the Japanese Tsugaru Strait . A large number of Japanese Self-Defense Forces aircraft took emergency lift from multiple bases to deal with Chinese aircraft.
